A 41-year-old was sentenced to 40-month imprisonment at West Kowloon Magistrates’ Courts today after he indecently assaulted his 10-year-old daughter between July and November in 2019.

He earlier pleaded guilty to five counts of charges, including indecency with children under 16 and indecent assault.

Judge Ernest Lin Kam Hung said the crimes the chef committed are absolutely despicable and crossed the bottom line of integrity and morality.

Lin also cited psychological reports and pointed out that the chef felt no shame of his wrongdoing and tried to put the blame on others.

He added that the man took advantage of his seniority to sexuall assault his daughter, who was only 10. What the chef has done to the girl would never be erased, and also caused the mother to be ashamed and anxious, Lin said.

The court has to protect the weak and prevent adults and elders from committing similar crimes, according to Lin. The sentence has to show that the society despises such behaviours and helps the mother and daughter to let go of the event. The chef was therefore sentenced to 40-month jail.
