With the full commissioning of the new Tuen Ma Line on June 27, a series of upgrading works, including the construction of new platforms - which will open on June 20, have been implemented at Hung Hom station beforehand.

New interchange arrangements for the West Rail Line and the East Rail Line will also be in place on June 20.

The newly constructed two-level platfrom at Hung Hom station will be more spacious than the existing one and equipped with extensive facilities such as the “train car loading indicator”, platform screen doors and air conditioning, said MTR head of operation, Sammy Wong Kwan-wai.

Wong also said the station concourse has been revamped to create a spacious and airy environment.

“Together with new entrances, exits, more gates, seats, and ticketing machines, passengers will be able to enjoy more convenient and comfortable journeys,” Wong added.

While the Cross-Harbour Section of the East Rail Line is still under construction, upon the opening of the new platform, passengers have to pass through the concourse to reach the existing East Rail Line platform and the West Rail Line platform for changing between the two lines.

The new arrangements will be in place until the commissioning of the Cross-Habour Section and the full launch of the new platforms at the station.

The MTR’s general manager of customer experience development, Annie Leung Ching-man, said there will be color signages installed and up to 230 additional staff to direct passengers when the new arrangements go into effect.
