Truck driver arrested for assaulting security guard

A 38-year-old truck driver in Tuen Mun was arrested yesterday after he violently beat a security guard of a Tung Chung housing block over a dispute when entering the parking lot. 

A video was uploaded on social media, recording the brawl between the driver in the blue shirt and the guard in his uniform. 

The incident happened on May 15 at Yu Tai Court in Tung Chung, according to chief inspector of police Ng Tsz-ho. 

The driver surnamed Chung was delivering goods at the site. An argument took place between Chung and the guard, 60, when Chung wished to enter the parking lot. During the argument the driver got off the truck and beat the security guard. 

He was spotted punching the guard at least 15 times, and kicking the guard’s stomach with his knee. 

The guard only shielded himself by the gate. The driver was then stopped by others as seen in the video. The guard’s head was bleeding at that time and his chest was also hurt. He was sent to hospital and is now in stable condition. 

It is understood that the driver then sought medical aid in a hospital, He then reported the incident to the police officers stationed in the hospital and gave his contact information. 

After investigation police arrested Chung last night at around 9pm in Tuen Mun for assault. Police believed that the incident was a single event as the two didn’t know each other before the incident. Officer also said the incident was not plotted and targeted at security guards.
