Woman dies after entering track in Sheung Shui station

A woman died after entering the track in Sheung Shui station. The incident caused temporary suspension of train services of the East Rail Line. 

MTR pointed out that the woman jumped onto the track, as shown in security footage. 

At around 3pm today, when a train heading to Hung Hom was entering Sheung Shui station, the train operator saw a passenger entering the track from the platform. The operator immediately engaged the brake and stopped the train. Still she was hit and laid underneath the train. 

Staff at the station also switched on the emergency button to stop other trains from entering the station. Staff was sent to the scene immediately and the incident was reported to police and firemen. 

Firemen arrived at the station and rescued the woman, who was unconscious at that time. She was rushed to hospital but she was soon certified dead. 

Train travelling between Fanling and Sheung Shui Station was once suspended. There was a 7-minute interval for a train travelling between Hung Hom station and a 14-minute interval for train between Hung Hom and Fanling. 

The train services of East Rail Line gradually resumed at around 3.48pm.
