Stringent health and security measures are in place before the two sessions kick start in Beijing tomorrow.

Hong Kong delegates to the meetings of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and the National People’s Congress (NPC), to open on March 4 and 5 respectively, said they have to get tested three times.

They have to undergo virus tests before they depart, when they transit at Shenzhen and when they arrive at Beijing.

Committee members also need to wear masks and have their temperatures checked at the meetings.

CPPCC delegate Wong Kam-fai said it is a civil responsibility to undergo such tests, as over 5,000 people are attending the two sessions at The Great Hall of the People.

Point-to-point transportation and private flights are provided for attending delegates, who are not allowed to leave the hotels on their own.

Drones and balloons are banned by the Beijing security bureau and flights will need approval from the military and the aviation department.

Six Guangdong train stations will request passengers to undergo extra security checks and to show negative virus test results before traveling to Beijing. Packages without security checked labels will be returned as well.
