HK records two more Covid deaths, taking tally to 174

Two Covid patients passed away in the city today, pushing Hong Kong’s death tally to 174, according to the Hospital Authority.

One of the patients is a 67-year-old man with chronic illness hospitalized at United Christian Hospital on December 7 due to fever and abdominal pain.

His condition continued to deteriorate after she was diagnosed with Covid-19, he eventually succumbed at 8.26am today.

The other patient is a chronically ill 56-year-old woman who sent to the Accident and Emergency Department of Kwong Wah Hospital by ambulance yesterday morning due to shortness of breath.

The patient suffered a cardiac arrest on the way to the hospital. Upon cardiopulmonary resuscitation with intubation immediately on arrival at the hospital, her heart rate picked up and she was admitted to the isolation ward for treatment.

Her condition continued to deteriorate after she was diagnosed with Covid-19 in the afternoon the same day, she eventually succumbed at 4.22pm.

A spokesman of the Hospital Authority said all staff members who had been in contact with the patient were equipped with appropriate personal protective equipment. No staff members were classified as close contacts.
