The Hospital Authority announced that they will recover the wages paid to the employees in respect of their verified dates of absence from duty from February 3 to 7 this year, with no other human resources follow-up arrangements.

The Chairman of the Authority, Henry Fan Hung Ling said, “The Hospital Authority believes that this arrangement has addressed the staff absence matter in a reasonable, lawful and fair manner.”

“I sincerely hope that the decision this time will ease the concerns of staff members. Let us focus again on our duties professionally in response to the winter service surge and the new wave of COVID-19," he added.

Over 7,000 hospital workers in Hong Kong have gone on strike called on by the Hospital Authority Employees Alliance in February, demanding the border with mainland China be completely shut to prevent the infected from entering the city, and to promise adequate protective equipment for staff and not to seek retribution against staff who walked out.
