A 30-year-old woman and a 59-year-old taxi driver were both sentenced to three years and eight months in jail for assaulting a man in Beverly Garden in Tseung Kwan O in November last year.

The two pleaded guilty to two charges of wounding with intent and rioting and were sentenced to jail at the District Court today.

The two were said to have assaulted a man during a memorial ceremony for Hong Kong Univerisity of Science and Technology student Chow Tsz-lok in Tseung Kwan O.

The Magistrate said the two had lost self-control during the incident, losing their nerve.

The Magistrate added that society would not tolerate such violent acts, therefore the sentence must have a deterrent effect.
