Four former lawmakers from the Democratic Party had slammed the Policy Address delivered by Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor today, saying the content has failed to put emphasis on citizens of Hong Kong.

Wu Chi-wai, chairman of the party said the policy address had largely covered areas on tightening the clamps on education and oath-taking for civil servants.

“All these are to prepare for the disqualification of District Councilors and to control both the District Council and the LegCo,” said Wu.

He also said Lam had repeatedly thanked the Central Government throughout her policy address without mentioning the Hong Kong citizens, saying she had no intention to overcome the political deadlock in the city.

Former lawmaker Andrew Wan Siu-kin also criticized Lam for going against public opinion.

“Lam claimed she will not give up on the Lantau Vision project, despite opposition from the business sector. With the current business environment, that will only be a ‘mirage’ for Hong Kong,” said Wan.
