The Centre for Health Protection said as at 12:00 am today, it has recorded two additional confirmed coronavirus cases – nine imported and one local – bringing the tally to 5,098 cases, including one probable case. There are also less than ten preliminary positive cases.

Dr. Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said that the local case with unidentifiable sources is a Thai female tourist. She arrived in Hong Kong with friends on March 16 and has been stranded in Hong Kong.

The Thai tourist has lived at Lee Garden Guest House at Tsim Sha Tsui since August while her friends have headed back to Thailand. She got a headache on September 26 and moved to Dorsett Hotel Kwun Tong the following day. The tourist then moved to Hotel COZi Harbour View in Kwun Tong on September 28 and visited the doctor on the same day.

The tourist has been to Harbour City in Tsim Sha Tsui during her incubation period.

Chuang said that the patient's infectious period began on September 24. The cleaning staff of the hotels will be listed as close contacts if they did not take preventive measures. Guests who lived in the same hotel room after will also be considered as close contacts while sampling bottles will be distributed to guests living on the same floor.

Nine imported cases were five people from the UK, including two returning students, a visitor from France, two Filipino domestic helpers, and a Dubai visitor.

The Hospital Authority also reported a probable case from a male nurse working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

The nurse started coughing on Monday and went to the emergency room two days later. He was tested preliminary positive this morning with his last working day being September 30.

Chief Manager of Clinical Effectiveness and Technology Management, Dr. Linda Yu, believed that the nurse was not infected in the hospital as he had not been in contact with any coronavirus patient in the past two weeks.

One of the nurse's family members was said to have symptoms. The nurse is living at Lai Chi Kok Road with his family and has been to his friend's house during the incubation period.
Yesterday, Hong Kong reported eight new coronavirus cases, one of which was a resident at Yuen Long Home for the Elderly.
Chuang said that all other residents and staff were tested negative.

10 Covid-19 confirmed patients were discharged from the hospital in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 4,836 patients with confirmed or probable infection have been discharged.

118 confirmed patients are currently hospitalized, among which 10 patients are in critical condition, 8 are in serious condition, and the remaining 100 patients are in stable condition.

At present, there are 639 negative pressure rooms in public hospitals, 61 percent are in use while 1,155 negative pressure beds are activated, 50.3 percent are in use.
