The University of Hong Kong says mainland authorities have allowed clinical trials of a nasal spray vaccine for the coronavirus it has been developing with mainland institutions, RTHK reports.

The State Key Laboratory of Emerging Infectious Diseases of the university's Department of Microbiology has been working on the vaccine with Xiamen University and Beijing Wantai Biological Pharmacy.

It says it is the only nasally-administered vaccine against the disease to be allowed for clinical trials so far by the National Medical Products Administration.
