Police arrest nine in August 31 commemoration protest

Police have arrested nine people in a rally that marked 11 months since the Prince Edward MTR station incident on August 31, the youngest at the age of 13. 
Dozens of people gathered outside the Prince Edward station last night to commemorate the event, in which officers were accused of allegedly beating and trampling on passengers and anti-government protesters in an operation. 
Protesters mourned for alleged fatalities despite repeated denials from the authorities, including police and the firefighters. 
Officers said the arrestee – seven men and two women - aged between 13 and 70, and were handcuffed in association with offences including possession of an offensive weapon, stealing, property damage, possession of illegal drugs, overstaying and failing to provide identification documents. 
Another three women, aged from 50 to 70, were fined for contravening the social-distancing restriction which bars social gatherings of more than two people.
