A jobless man, 19, who had pleaded guilty to a count of disorderly conduct in public place, has been sentenced to 18 months of probation by the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today.

He was accused of kicking a female passerby's luggage and pushing her after his foot was run over by the luggage on the footbridge outside the Landmark North mall in Sheung Shui on December 28 last year – the day of the "North District shop with you" protest.

The defendant claimed to be a medic, and was arrested three days later after the incident was caught on camera by the media.
