Hong Kong needs to tighten restrictions on catering establishments, including limiting diners to just four at a table, and makign it mandatory for taxi driver to roll down rear windows, in the wake of the resurgence of coronavirus infections, a microbiologist has suggested.

Dr Ho Pak-Leung, the head of the University of Hong Kong Centre for Infection, the govrnment needs to enforce wearing of face masks in public including public transport and hospitals.

He also said the government should take the lead in reintroducing work from home.

Recreational facilities that were reopened, should be closed, he said.

He said that the government's reliance on private doctors and general out-patient clinics to collect virus test samples is inadequate and instead street stations should be set up to bolster community testing.
