Prominent figures including Chief Executive, Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, and former leaders, Leung Chun-ying and Tung Chee-hwa, arrived at the Hong Kong Funeral Home in North Point this afternoon to pay their final tributes to the late casino king, Stanley Ho Hung-sun.
Ho passed away at the age of 98 at the Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital on May 26 due to organ failure.
His family members arrived at the funeral home one by one this morning.
Director Luo Huining, and deputy director, Tan Tieniu, of Beijing's Liaison Office arrived in the afternoon accompanied by security guards. Luo left after staying for about 10 minutes.
Other prominent figures include Sing Tao News Corporation chairman, Charles Ho Tsu-kwok, Chief Secretary Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, former Chief Secretary, Henry Tang Ying-yen, Bank of East Asia chairman, David Li Kwok-po, property tycoon Thomas Kwok Ping-kwong, first Macau Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau-wah and Peter Wong Tung-shun , HSBC's Asia Pacific chief executive.
It is understood that Ho's family booked four floors of the funeral home, which can accommodate thousands. The cost on the flowers alone exceeded HK$2 million.
