Youth gets service order for cutting off traffic light cables

A part-time sales, 19, who had pleaded guilty to a count of criminal damage for cutting off the cables of traffic lights during protests in Shau Kei Wan on November 12 last year, has been ordered to perform 120 hours of community service by the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today and compensate HK$425 for repairing fees.

The defendant was accused of using a pair of scissors to cut an officer's left hand during his arrest, but was acquitted of the charge.
