Sun Hung Kai Properties has denied online rumors claiming that it had sent out a text message to recruit temporary security guards that will be equipped with batons and helmets on a three-month contract for its shopping malls.
A spokesperson said the group or its subsidiary companies will not send out text messages to recruit staff and that all security guards, including outsourced, will strictly adhere to internal codes and Hong Kong laws.
The property giant also said the personnel and contact numbers listed on the purported text message are not associated with the company.
According to the purported message, the duties of those temporary security guards will include maintaining order, filming the face of protesters and follow them to maintain the safety of the malls. And if protesters vandalize the shopping mall, those who successfully subdue them and hand over to the police will receive additional award of HK$1,800 per day. The minimum working days are 20 per month and former police officer or active auxiliary police will be given priority.
