The Department of Health said a 23-year-old woman, has been sentenced to immediate imprisonment for 10 days by the Kowloon City Magistrates' Courts today for breaching compulsory quarantine order.

She left the place of quarantine without reasonable excuse nor permission given by an authorized officer before the expiry of the order, and was stopped by staff of the Immigration Department at Shenzhen Bay Control Point on February 25.

A DH spokesman said the sentence sends a clear message to the community that breaching a quarantine order is a criminal offense and that the government will not tolerate such actions.
