Lawmaker says students in UK can't find flight tickets

The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong lawmaker, Horace Cheung Kwok-kwan, said today a large number of Hong Kong students in the United Kingdom want to return as soon as possible, but there are insufficient airline tickets.

He said a parent has told him that the earliest available flight back to Hong Kong is March 27, but it's a business class ticket, and for an economy class ticket, the earliest available flight will be April 4.

Cheung said the UK is taking a passive approach to fight the epidemic and suggested the government to discuss with airlines to increase flights or arrange chartered flights to take them back to Hong Kong.

He also said Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office staff in the UK can go to the airport there to provide protective gear to Hong Kong students.
