Eight convicted after Yuen Long anti-triad raids

The police have arrested 186 suspects in an anti-triad operation in Yuen Long. 

From among those arrested, 56 were prosecuted and eight were convicted.

The arrests were not related to the Yuen Long MTR attack on July 21.

Operation “Skyage” started in June. More than 300 officers raided locations in Yuen Long from January 6 to Monday, and arrested 68 males and 118 females, aged between 14 and 71 years, including 15 suspected triad members. Nine are teenagers between 14 and 17 years. None is a student.

There were 64 women who breached their conditions of stay and they have been referred to the Immigration Department. 

Police seized drugs and gambling tools including HK$33,000 worth of illegal drugs, three meth pipe bowls, 30 grams of methamphetamine, seven grams of cocaine, 660 bottles of beer, 19 Mahjong tables, 38 sets of Mahjong, one Pai gow table and a set of Pai gow, as well as HK$22,000 cash.

A steak knife, three watermelon knives, nine wooden poles and six iron rods were seized.-The Standard
