Aussie cops raid ABC offices over Afghan killing series

Australian Federal Police officers have raided the ABC offices in Sydney over ‘The Afghan Files’ series, Sky News reports.

In 2017, investigative journalists used secret Defence Force documents to reveal allegations of unlawful killings and misconduct by Australian special forces in Afghanistan. The raid comes one day after the home of News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst was searched over a story outing a purported secret government plan to spy on Australians.

Radio host and Sky News contributor Ben Fordham revealed yesterday he was also being investigated by the Department of Home Affairs for reporting six people smuggling boats recently attempted the journey to Australia from Sri Lanka.
