Hong Kong Observatory said the tropical cyclone near Philippines will move across Luzon today, entering the South China Sea and intensifying afterwards. It will move towards the vicinity of Hainan island and the western part of Guangdong, bringing squally showers to Guangdong in the latter part of this week.

At noon, the tropical depression over the Philippines was centered about 40 kilometers south-southwest of Manila and is forecast to move west or west-northwest at about 18 kilometers per hour across Luzon, the forecasters said. (Hong Kong Observatory photo)
