Two-way toll collection to take effect at Lantau Link next month

A two-way toll collection arrangement will be implemented at the Lantau Link Main Toll Plaza and the Ma Wan Toll Plaza on August 20, the Transport Department said today.

Tolls will be collected from motorists for every single trip, including entering and leaving Ma Wan, when the arrangement comes into effect.

"Upon the commissioning of Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, the Lantau Link will no longer be the only vehicular road to Lantau, and thus changing the current one-way toll collection arrangement to a two-way one is necessary to prepare for the commissioning of the Bridge,” a government spokesman said.

He added that since the toll tickets are non-refundable and no change will be given, motorists using the Lantau Link should use the remaining toll tickets with round-trip face values – HK$20, 30, 40 and 50, as soon as possible and purchase toll tickets with single-trip face values – HK$10, 15, 20 and 25.

The one-way toll collection arrangement has been implemented since 1997.
