China flooding claims 140 lives, 1.7m relocated

A total of 140 people have died or are missing and 30.20 million have been affected due to floods in 27 provincial-level regions, including eastern Anhui and Jiangxi provinces as of 2:00 p.m. local time Thursday, the Ministry of Emergency Management said, CGTN reports

As of Thursday, 1.721 million people were relocated, and 22,000 houses collapsed. 

The floods have caused direct economic losses worth 61.79 billion yuan.
