More attractions to revive loss-making Ocean Park

Loss-making Ocean Park, aims to build more than 20 attractions and overhaul 10 existing ones from 2023 onwards as a part of HK$10.6 billion plan to revive its fortunes.

The theme park, headed by Leo Kung Lin-cheng, will seek funding from Legco's panel on economic development on January 20.

For the 2018-2019 financial the park reported a deficit of HK$557.3 million, double the HK$236.5 million deficit the year before. Revenue grew by 2.89 percent on-year to HK$1.73 billion. This includes admissions revenue of HK$1.14 billion, which dropped by 3.81 percent from the year before.

A part of the park will be opened to visitors for free, while it will also shift away from animal-themed shows.

The park is proposing an environmentally friendly cruise ferry that will shutte between the new waterfront and Tai Shue Wan to allow visitors to take in the coastal scenery of the Southern District.
