The High Court today rejected activist Avery Ng Man-yuen's bid to take his case to the Court of Final Appeal.

In June, the chairman of the League of Social Democrats was sentenced to jail after losing an appeal against his conviction and four-month jail sentence for divulging information on social media and to reporters in 2016 about the Independent Commission Against Corruption's investigation of Betty Fung Ching Suk-yee, the then permanent secretary for Home Affairs. He was later released on bail pending appeal in July.

Judge Judianna Barnes Wai-ling extended his bail for one month today and Ng said he will appeal against his conviction and jail sentence at the Court of Final Appeal directly.
