Pro-Beijing group rails against Trump

Several dozen people joined a pro-Beijing rally in Central today, gathering in Chater Garden to sing the national anthem, before marching to the US Consulate, RTHK reports.
The group trampled on an American flag as they vented their anger at US President Donald Trump signing the Hong Kong Human Rights and Democracy Act into law last week.
They waved Chinese flags as they chanted slogans accusing Washington of interfering in China's internal affairs.
As one woman beat a poster of Trump's face with her mobile phone, another pretended to pummel a cardboard printout of the president's head attached to a devil's body. By the end of the demonstration, Trump's oversized head had been set on fire.
A representative of the consulate came out to meet the protesters who handed him a petition letter, with the crowd urging Trump to step down as president.
One of the participants said the new US legislation regarding Hong Kong is nothing more than a useless piece of paper that will have no impact whatsoever on the people of China.
The act requires the US Department of State to carry out an annual review of Hong Kong's special trading status and provides for sanctions against any Hong Kong or mainland officials responsible for abusing human rights in the SAR.-Photos: RTHK
