The Cross-Harbour Tunnel will reopen tomorrow from 5:00am following almost two weeks of closure, the government said, RTHK reports. The Chief Secretary, Matthew Cheung Kin-chung, announced the reopening today.
The main artery linking Hung Hom and Causeway Bay was forced to shut after anti-government protesters trashed it and set fire to tool booths. Barricades were also set up at the tunnel entrances at either end to block traffic.
Cheung said almost 800 workers carried out emergency clean-up and repair work.
