Railway stations near Polytechnic University were again closed today as police and protesters continued a stand-off, RTHK reports.
Hung Hom, Tsim Sha Tsui and East Tsim Sha Tsui stations were closed, with the Tsuen Wan, East Rail and West Rail lines all affected. University Station in Sha Tin, close to the Chinese University campus, was closed after clashes in that area last week.
The most serious disruption was to the East Rail Line, where trains were not operating between Hung Hom and Mong Kok East. Trains between Mong Kok East and Sheung Shui were running only every seven and a half minutes.
Mong Kok East to Lo Wu services were running at intervals of between seven and a half and 15 minutes, while trains to Lok Ma Chau ran every 23 minutes.
Overall journey times were between 16 and 22 minutes longer and, because service frequency was reduced, passengers faced long waits to enter stations and platforms.
A free shuttle bus was operating between Tai Po Market and Kam Sheung Road stations.
On the West Rail, services were not operating between Hung Hom and Austin, with services between Austin and Tuen Mun running every three to six minutes.
