Riot police on standby at Yuen Long MTR station

Local | 21 Oct 2019 2:22 pm

Riot police has entered the Yuen Long MTR station before it was closed at 2:00pm today and are on standby.

The MTR Corporation said the station is closed earlier due to upcoming public activities following risk assessment and discussion with relevant government departments.

Netizens have proposed a sit-in at the station to mark the three months since the July 21 attacks.

On the evening of July 21, white-clad mobsters, armed with bamboo sticks and metal pipes, attacked people indiscriminately at the station. Some protesters had returned home from an anti-extradition law amendment rally on Hong Kong Island that day.

Dozens of people were wounded in the attack.
