Teachers take heartbreak to Carrie Lam's doorstepLocal | 16 Aug 2019 2:20 pm
The Professional Teachers' Union said the police have approved a rally at Chater Garden in Central at 11:00am tomorrow and a march to the Government House, to reiterate the five major demands and also to demand that Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor respond.
In a press briefing, Fung Wai-wah, the president of the pro-democracy union, said teachers feel that the police have used excessive force on protesters when enforcing the law and are “very heartbroken” by the images they see. A lot of students were also among those arrested, he said while holding back tears.
Fung urged educators and people who care about the next generation to join the rally and march.
