A retired correctional services assistant has been fined HK$2,500 after pleading guilty today to a count of criminal damage at the West Kowloon Magistrates' Courts.
Shek Chiu-yin, 57, was accused of damaging People's Power vice-chairman Tam Tak-chi's wireless microphone on April 27 after he snatched it and threw it to the ground. Tam was speaking near the Sham Shui Po MTR station.
During mitigation, Shek, who was not represented by a lawyer, said he has different political views from Tam, and acted on impulse. He was also ordered to compensate Tam HK$1,000.
