A wounded sea turtle nursed back to health over a year was released back in to the ocean by Ocean Park a few day ago.

Plastic bag fragments were found in the gastrointestinal track and faeces, Ocean Park said.

The turtle, called Spark, is estimated to be about five to eight years old and was found near northeast waters on March 29 last year, when the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department was carrying out a survey. It had a deep wound on its left flipper, among other wounds and infections.

A satellite transmitter has been fitted to Spark’s back to track its movement and feeding patterns in the next three to six months.
