Ngong Ping 360 visitors soar to 1.8 million

Popular Lantau Island tourist drawcard, Ngong Ping 360, said today, visitors who enjoyed the rides, sights and performances soared by 75.3 percent, on-year to 1.83 million guests last year.

The majority of visitors, or 58 percent, were from Western and Asian regions, while 27 percent were from China and Macau.

Hong Kong residents accounted for 15 percent.

In a day, an average of 5,385 visitors came to Ngong Ping 360, an increase of 5.9 percent. It was a 10-year high.

The Ngong Ping Cable Car stretches 5.7 kilometers from Tung Chung to Ngong Ping.

Andy Lau, the acting managing director of Ngong Ping 360, said that in early 2018, the commerce team introduced Ngong Ping products to local travel agencies, and delivered customized offerings. "As a result, the number of guests from China has seen a marked growth since the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge opened. Through years of effort, we have forged close strategic partnerships with large-scale e-commerce platforms in a bid to explore alternative sales channels.''
