HKU academic Cheung Kie-chung charged with murder

University of Hong Kong council member, Cheung Kie-chung, was charged with murder today.

The 53-year-old mechanical engineering associate professor was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murdering his wife, Tina Chan Wai-man, 53, at their residence in the university's Wei Lun Hall and hiding her body in a large wooden box in his office in the Haking Wong Building in the HKU campus.

Last week, Cheung, had reported that his wife was missing.

The case will be mentioned at Eastern Magistrates' Courts tomorrow.
