Consumers have been advised to stay alert against avian flu after the H5 virus was detected in a test sample from a batch of chilled chicken from China.

The Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health said today people who have recently handled chilled chicken imported from the mainland processing plant Huidong County Baishisheng Agricultural Co (production date: January 15, 2018) and who develop fever or respiratory symptoms within seven days should seek medical advice immediately.

The Food and Environmental Hygiene Department said samples were taken from chilled chickens at a fresh provision shop in Mong Kok.
