WuXi AppTec gains despite shareholder inquiry

Shares of WuXi AppTec (2359) gained by 1.86 percent, at HK$159.20 as of 1:01 pm on Thursday, although the company said Wednesday that its shareholder, Shanghai Yingyi Investment Center (limited partnership), was under investigation by the China Securities Regulatory Commission, on suspicion of illegal disclosure.

Yingyi offloaded about 17.25 million shares in WuXi, or a 0.6962 percent stake, at between 143.49 yuan and 176.88 yuan, between May 14 and June 8, according to a stock exchange filing last week. Yingyi failed to disclose the shares sale plan 15 trading days in advance.
