HK exports, imports fall in June

The Census and Statistics Department released the external merchandise trade statistics showing that the values of Hong Kong's total exports of goods recorded a 1.3 percent year-on-year decrease in June, falling for four consecutive months.

The values of Hong Kong's total imports of goods fell 7.1 percent to HK$338.9 billion last month.

For the first half of 2020 as a whole, the value of total exports of goods decreased by 6.9 percent over the same period in 2019. Concurrently, the value of imports of goods decreased by 9.4 percent. A visible trade deficit of HK$175.2 billion, equivalent to 9. percent of the value of imports of goods, was recorded in the first half.
