Macau gambling revenue remains in the doldrums

The Macau Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau announced that gross gambling revenue plunged by 83.39 percent quarter-on-quarter or 95.59 percent year-on-year.

The second-quarter gross gambling revenue was 3.23 billion Macau pataca (HK$3.14 billion).

Revenue from the VIP rooms slumped by 89.85 percent or 95.65 percent, compared with a previous quarter, or a previous year.

Gambling tables increased by 336 when compared with the first quarter. Compared with last year, the number fell 865 to 5869 in the second quarter this year.

Shares in SJM (880) closed lower, falling by 0.33 percent. Galaxy Entertainment (0027) added 2.81 percent.
