CK Hutchison (0001) announced the merger of Vodafone Hutchison Australia under the group with TPG Telecom was approved by the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

The merger agreement will become effective and Vodafone Hutchison Australia will change its name to TPG Telecom on June 29, while TPG's shares will be suspended from trading on the Australian Securities Exchange at the same time.

Also, the new TPG Telecom will be admitted to the ASX under the code ‘TPG’ on June 30, with trading to start on a deferred settlement basis, said the group.

VHA chief executive Iñaki Berroeta said the court orders paved the way for completion of the merger. “At the heart of this merger are two businesses with complementary infrastructure and a shared ethos as customer champions, and together we will be a stronger force for Australian consumers,” he said.
