Hang Seng soars at close, China shares climb

Stocks in Hong Kong rallied at the close today after a boost to investors sentiment from the US Federal Reserve overnight.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index shot up by 657.14 points, or 2.39 percent at 24,344.09.
Main board turnover was HK$114.62 billion.
Semiconductor Manufacturing International (0981) share soared by 11.90 percent at HK$21.35.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Stock Exchange Composite Index closed higher by 1.44 percent at 2,931.75. The Shenzhen Stock Exchange Composite Index climbed by 1.77 percent at 1,898.35.
