Silver for Hong Kong in Boccia mixed doubles event| 4 Sep 2021 5:21 pm
Hong Kong's Leung Yuk-wing, Vivian Lau Wai-yan and Wong Kwan-hang snatched silver in Boccia pairs BC4 event at the Tokyo Paralympics, winning one more medal for the city.
The mixed doubles team lost 2-3 in the gold medal match to Samuel Anderjcik, Michaela Balcova and Martin Streharsky from Slovakia.
This silver medal is the first medal captured by Lau and Wong at the Games. It is also the second medal for Leung at the Tokyo Paralympics. He earlier won a bronze medal in Boccia individual BC4 event.
Chief Executive Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor congratulated the trio for their outstanding performances.
"Hong Kong people and I are overjoyed and are proud of the achievements of the three athletes," Lam said.
Other government officials, including Secretary for Home Affairs Capsar Tsui Ying-wai and Executive Council convenor Bernard Chan also extended their congratulations to the three athletes.
So far athletes from Hong Kong have won a silver medal and two bronze medals at the Tokyo Paralypics.
