Stocks in Hong Kong advanced in morning trade today after opening slightly lower. At midday, the benchmark Hang Seng Index added 0.32 percent, or 86.6 points, at 26,806.18.
Shares of index heavyweight AIA Group (1299) rose 1.33 percent, or HK$1, to HK$76.35.
The best performer was China Life Insurance (2628), whose share surged 5.23 percent to HK$19.74, after issuing positive profit alert. Its net profit for the first three quarters this year is expected to rise by at least 180 percent.
Shares of Xiaomi (1810) grew 4.8 percent to HK$8.96 and Meituan Dianping (3690) increased by 4.15 percent to HK$96.6, hitting a new high, as the two stocks trading with weighted voting rights will be included into Stock Connect.
Techtronic Industries (0669) fell 2.32 percent to HK$56.85, becoming the worst performer among blue-chip stocks.
