Stocks in Hong Kong tumbled at midday today after opening higher. The benchmark Hang Seng Index dipped 1.24 percent, or 332.21 points, at 26,421.91.
Index heavyweight AIA Group (1299) was the biggest blue-chip loser at break. Shares of the insurer tanked 2.98 percent, or HK$2.35, to HK$76.55.
Energy stocks slid overall. PetroChina (0857) fell 2.83 percent to HK$4.12, while CNOOC (0883) decreased 1.58 percent to HK$12.48.
Smartphone supplier stocks were the biggest gainers among blue-chips at break. AAC Technologies (2018) jumped 5.41 percent to HK$46.80, Sunny Optical Technology (2382) rose 2.05 percent to HK$119.30.
