China Unicom (Hong Kong) (0762) said net profit for the six months ended June 30, increased by 16 percent year-on-year to 6.9 billion yuan (HK$7.71 billion).

The board will submit a proposal for a final dividend payment based on the overall results for the year, the company said.

Mobile service revenue fell by 6.6 percent year-on-year to 78.7 billion yuan, reflecting the impact of “speed upgrade and tariff reduction” policy, market saturation, keen market competition and diminishing 4G data bonus.

Mobile billing subscribers grew by 9.32 million, reaching 320 million. Of these, 4G subscribers increased by 19.01 million, reaching 240 million.

The 4G subscriber market share was up by 0.8 percentage points year-on-year.
