Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon June passengers rise, cargo revenue falls by 9.7pc

The Cathay Pacific Group said today Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon carried more passengers in June but cargo declined.

Cathay Pacific and Cathay Dragon flew 3.10 million passengers last month,  an increase of 6 percent compared with June 2018. The passenger load factor increased by 1.4 percentage points to 86.7 percent, while capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASKs), increased by 7.3 percent.

In the first six months, the number of passengers increased by 4.4 percent, while capacity increased by 6.7 percent.

The two airlines carried 163,977 tons of cargo and mail last month, a drop of 9.1 percent compared with  the same month last year. The cargo and mail load factor fell by 7.8 percentage points to 62.8 percent.

Cargo and mail revenue freight ton kilometres (RFTKs) dropped by 9.7 percent. In the first six months of 2019, the tonnage fell by 5.7 percent against a 1.1 percent increase in capacity and a 6.1 percent decrease in RFTKs.
