Taiwan logs 167 daily local coronavirus infections

Taiwan on Wednesday reported 170 new coronavirus infections. Among them, 167 were domestically transmitted, CNA reports.

There were also 18 deaths from the coronavirus disease, according to the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC).

The new infections  brought the total number in Taiwan to 13,409, of which over 12,000 are domestic infections reported since May 15, when the country first reported over 100 coronavirus patients in a single day.

The 18 who died were nine men and nine women, aged 30-100 years. They died between June 6 and June 14, the CECC said.

To date, 478 people in Taiwan have died from the coronavirus disease, including 466 since May 15.
