The new patients bring the total number in the country to 12,222, of which over 10,500 are domestic infections recorded since May 15, the first day the county reported over 100 infections since the outbreak began in early 2020.
The 28 fatalities were 21 men and seven women, aged 50 to 100, who passed away between June 1 and June 9, the CECC said.
To date, 361 people have died of COVID-19 in Taiwan, including 349 since May 15.
