The pro-Beijing former LegCo president Jasper Tsang Yok-sing said if he was the current Chief Executive of Hong Kong, he would have resigned from the position.

Speaking at a seminar, he said the HKSAR government had faced unprecedented complications in the past year.

“With such challenges, it would be too much for me to handle, I would have resigned early on,” said Tsang in a joking manner.

He also said it would be essential for all government officials including District Councilors to be patriotic.

“It is of common knowledge for citizens to respect national sovereignty and not to participate in actions that would undermine Hong Kong’s prosperity,” stressed Tsang, saying it is best not to challenge the city’s “One Country, Two Systems”.
