Subsidy considered for those quarantined

Health officials said authorities are exploring the possibility to offer subsidies for those being put under mandatory quarantine after they are tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Secretary for Health, Sophia Chan Siu-chee, announced today in a 12.30pm briefing that it is understandable that citizens will fear losing income if they are tested positive for the virus and being put under mandatory quarantine, unable to continue their work.
She said in order to encourage citizens with symptoms to get tested without fearing a loss of income, such measures will be implemented by The Labour and Welfare Bureau.
“The Labour and Welfare Bureau will soon be rolling out a one-off subsidy to those being put under quarantine and unable to work. Details will be released as soon as possible in the coming few days by the Bureau,” she said.
